On September 21, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a trespassing call. A 37-year-old woman was found living in her car on private property. She was told that she needed to leave the property. However, Officers discovered that the license plate on the woman's vehicle was fictious. They stopped the woman again to discuss her lack of vehicle registration. They then discovered that the woman had an outstanding failure to appear warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle. She was placed under arrest and while being forced into the back of the police car, she kicked Officer Martinez. She was charged with Felony Battery Upon a Peace Officer and Resisting Arrest. She has missed numerous court appearances and her case is still open. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
