Police bodycam footage captured a surreal scene in Tallahassee, Florida, on July 23, as officers were forced to interrupt a performance to arrest a Chuck E. Cheese employee in full costume. In the video, an officer can be heard telling an adult, "Chuck E.'s a little bit busy ma'am," as he and his partner approached the costumed suspect, later identified as 41-year-old male. He was accused of stealing and using a customer's credit card. Officers struggled briefly near the games to handcuff the man in the oversized mouse suit, instructing him: "Chuck E., come with me, Chuck E. ... Chuck E. stop resisting, stop resisting." As the officers led "Chuck E." out of the restaurant, children appeared confused, and one young voice asked, "What are you doing?" One concerned adult confronted an officer, questioning: "Would y’all put Mickey Mouse in handcuffs?” The officer simply responded, "Have a good night." The officers then placed Jones in a police car and helped him remove his costume, including the large mouse head and furry hands. The suspect has denied any wrongdoing. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
