On April 17, 2023, Union Township police responded to an apartment complex after the leasing office called about a tenant causing a disturbance. When officers arrived, they immediately tried to detain an individual, who seemed confused about the situation and decided to run. He was tasered within seconds and eventually dropped to the ground. Officers interviewed both the man and the employees in the leasing office in order to get an understanding of exactly what happened. The 24 year-old man was arrested for resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. On May 4, 2023, he pled guilty to the resisting arrest charge and the disorderly conduct charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to time served (2 days) and he was ordered to pay a fine of $100 plus court costs. In addition, he was ordered to serve 16 hours of community service and he was placed on community control (probation) for 2 years.
