Yes, the Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW) in Marysville does allow pets, but only as part of specific, highly structured rehabilitation and service-dog training programs. Inmates are not permitted to bring their own personal pets to prison. "So they didn't talk about it on the Today Show, it's just on the website?" Mackenzie asks. "That's pretty bad." "When I'm home, I model..." Mackenzie Shirilla is mad at jail's message system. "Make sure they have my outfit for court! I don't have anything else you've dropped off. I only have the pink outfit." "That's like one of my favorite outfits." "Steven already messaged back. He loves Kenzie." Natalie laughs about Mackenzie Shirilla's story spreading and says, "It was published in England." "What? It's world news?" "It's on the Daily Mail? Maybe Kim Kardashian will reach out herself," Mackenzie Shirilla says. ORW features the unique Pawsabilities program inside specific housing units. Through partnerships with groups like Circle Tail and 4 Paws for Ability, selected inmates live with, socialize, and train rescue dogs, service dogs, and cats. In addition to training canines for the deaf, blind, or autistic, these units also house a smaller number of resident cats. To participate in these animal-care programs, inmates must undergo a strict evaluation process. They must maintain a positive behavioral record, and individuals with a history of animal abuse, domestic violence, or sex offenses are strictly disqualified to ensure the animals' safety.
