Police responded to a 9-1-1 call at approximately 03:41 hours regarding a potential physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers discovered a highly intoxicated male standing in the roadway blocking vehicular traffic and shouting profanities at a group of witnesses. The male admitted to being punched in the face and had visible swelling on his eye but refused to explain what happened or accept medical assistance at the scene. The situation involved three other individuals who had been in a vehicle with the man after returning from a local bar. According to witnesses, a verbal argument occurred in the car which led the intoxicated passenger to punch the driver with a closed fist. When the driver stopped and the other occupants attempted to remove him from the vehicle, the man began kicking them with force. One of the individuals struck him in the face in self-defense, prompting the intoxicated man to call 9-1-1 himself to claim he had been assaulted. Despite officers attempting to calm the man down, he directed verbal threats and hostile body language toward law enforcement. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
