Brooklyn, NY — At approximately 5:28 a.m. on September 7th, the suspect — later identified as 35-year-old Justin Coleman — entered the rear vestibule of the 73rd Precinct stationhouse, an area restricted from public access. Officer Venus Pagan approached Coleman and briefly spoke with him. During the encounter, Coleman suddenly pulled a knife from his pocket and attacked the officer. Two additional officers immediately responded to the scene. Coleman fled on foot, leading officers on a short pursuit that ended at the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Park Place. Officers ordered him to drop the knife, but he refused to comply and advanced toward them while still armed. In response, officers opened fire, striking Coleman multiple times. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Officer Pagan was treated for her injuries and subsequently released. This tragic incident remains under investigation by the NYPD and city authorities. Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
