A 911 call reports a man breaking through a neighbor’s door and assaulting his sister. Officers respond to the scene in Yuba City and quickly locate the suspect, who initially appears to surrender in a nearby yard. As officers move in to detain him, the situation rapidly escalates. Police say the suspect becomes combative, refuses commands, and violently resists attempts to take him into custody. Less-lethal options, including a taser and baton, are deployed but appear ineffective as the struggle intensifies. Officers then discharge their firearms, striking the suspect. Despite being shot, he continues resisting before being fully restrained. Officers immediately render aid before he is transported to a hospital.
