Trooper's Narrative: On 08/23/2023 at approximately 8:36 pm, I was on routine patrol on Interstate 440 eastbound at around the 3mm. While on patrol, I observed a black Chevrolet Silverado bearing a temporary license plate of AR DA719001 traveling above the posted speed limit in the number three lane. At the 5mm, I initiated my emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The truck attempted to pull to the right shoulder but then continued traveling eastbound in the number two lane on Interstate 440. The vehicle then initiated their hazard lights to indicate they were attempting to pull over in a safe location. However, the vehicle continued traveling past multiple safe locations. I then initiated my siren to advise the vehicle to pull over immediately. The vehicle began driving in between the number one and number two lanes. The vehicle then took the Faulkner Lake Rd exit, disregarded the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp, and continued north on Faulkner Lake Rd at approximately 80mph. The vehicle continued traveling north on Faulkner Lake Rd, which then changed into Lynch Drive. Once I observed little to no traffic, I attempted to perform a T.V.I. (Tactical Vehicle Intervention) multiple times. The vehicle used evasive maneuvers to block the T.V.I. multiple times. The vehicle then brake-checked me, which resulted in my patrol vehicle ramming the vehicle. After I rammed the vehicle, the vehicle lost control and exited the roadway to the right into a grassy field. The passenger, later identified as Marquasia Curruth, exited the vehicle on the driver's side. I advised Ms. Curruth to lie on the ground and put her hands behind her back, which she complied. Ms. Curruth was then placed into custody. Ms. Curruth advised that the vehicle's driver jumped a nearby fence and entered a nearby neighborhood. Ms. Curruth said she did not know the driver well and had just met him that night. She described the driver as a black male, bald head and older. An inventory search was conducted on the vehicle. I located vehicle documents with the registered owner's information in the vehicle. The registered owner was Anita Ford. Documents found within the vehicle showed an address of (redacted). The address was only a mile from where the vehicle stopped. J-hook wrecker was notified to recover the vehicle. Due to the suspect using evasive maneuvers and brake checking me during the pursuit, the front of my unit made contact with the rear of the suspect’s vehicle, causing damage. Unit #301009 sustained functional damage to the front push bumper and hood. I went to (redacted) and made contact with Mrs. Ford. Mrs. Ford advised that she had let her son, Robert Ford Jr, borrow her vehicle for the evening. Mrs. Ford did advise that Mr. Ford had run to her house after the incident, but she had not seen him since. I asked Ms. Curruth if she would be able to identify the driver of the truck, and she stated that she would. Ms. Curruth positively identified Mr. Robert Ford Jr. as the driver of the vehicle. An arrest warrant will be requested for Mr. Ford for the following charges: -Reckless Driving-1st (27-50-308(b)) -Fleeing-Vehicle or Conveyance-Exceeding the speed limit (5-54-125 (d)(2)) -Fleeing- On Foot (5-54-125( C ) ) -Speeding-More than 15 mph over limit (27-50-302(a)) -Fail to stop or yield (27-51-601)
