On March 4, 2026, in Ventura County, California, California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a black BMW convertible allegedly speeding and swerving on southbound US-101 near Rancho Road. CHP officers later located the vehicle and observed it crossing lane lines before initiating an enforcement stop on Westlake Boulevard. Police dashcam footage captured the DUI investigation. involving Britney Spears as officers observed objective signs of impairment including red watery eyes, slurred speech, rapid mood swings, unsteady movements, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Officers also observed erratic behavior and unusual speech patterns during the investigation. Spears admitted to consuming a champagne mimosa earlier in the day and stated she had also taken prescription medications including Lamictal and Prozac prior to driving. Officers later located a bottle of Adderall inside the vehicle. CHP officers conducted field sobriety tests and later requested a Drug Recognition Evaluation. The report states a certified Drug Recognition Expert concluded Spears was under the combined influence of alcohol and a CNS stimulant. Breath test results showed readings of 0.05% and 0.06% BAC.
