On January 12, 2025, Las Cruces Police Officers observed a Chevy truck driving erratically on Highway 70. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 28-year-old woman. She admitted to consuming alcohol, so she was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. The woman refused the tests and indicated that she was too drunk to pass them. She was then placed under arrest and was transported to the Las Cruces Police Station. She provided two breath samples, which registered 0.25% and 0.26% BAC (more than 3 times the legal limit). She then admitted that this was her 2nd DUI arrest. She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence of Liquor. The status of her case is unknown.
