He spotted a red 2023 Hyundai Elantra flying at 54 mph in a 35 mph zone. He tailed the car. The driver ducked into a stranger's driveway on Beach Avenue and killed her lights to hide. Golembieski hit his emergency lights for a stop right there. He met the driver, Courtney Loglisci. He smelled booze as he neared her. He saw clear signs she was drunk. She said she came from Wine Loft in Long Branch. She owned up to downing vodka that night. He went back to his cruiser to run her license. He grew sure she was impaired. He had her step out for sobriety tests. First came the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. He saw all 6 clues of impairment. Next, the Walk and Turn. She missed heel-to-toe steps. Her turn was off. She took the wrong step count. Then, One Leg Stand. She didn't lift her foot right. She dropped it too soon. Lack of Convergence followed. Last was the Modified Rhomberg Balance Test. Her wild drive, booze confession, and botched tests sealed it. Officers arrested Courtney. They impounded her car for a 12-hour hold under John's Law. Golembieski drove her to the Monmouth Beach station for booking. There, they read her the Standard Statement for drivers. She agreed to breath tests. Her Alcotest showed 0.114% BAC, over the 0.08% limit. They wrapped up processing. A sober adult took her home after she signed the liability warning.
