On May 7th, 2024, officers responded to a retail theft report at a Kohl’s store involving nearly $250 worth of merchandise. When officers arrived, they located the suspects and detained them for safety and investigation. Both individuals denied the theft, requested water and a phone, and resisted initial commands, causing the situation to escalate. Officers read their Miranda rights, checked surveillance footage, and confirmed the suspects had passed all points of payment without buying the items. The individuals were handcuffed, searched, and transported for processing while officers ensured the safety of their minor children. This bodycam footage shows how quickly a simple shoplifting call can escalate — and how officers work to maintain control while handling suspects, evidence, and child safety in a public store environment. ⚠️ Disclaimer: All footage in this video is for educational, reporting, and documentary purposes only.
