In early 2024, Ryan Caldwell — a licensed male nurse who had spent three years as the personal caregiver to a Houston oil heiress — was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, financial exploitation of the elderly, and romance fraud after investigators discovered he had systematically drained millions from her accounts. The 68-year-old widow's own daughter became suspicious when her mother's cognitive decline accelerated just weeks after signing over power of attorney to the man she believed was her fiancé. Caldwell is now serving life without parole at the Polunsky Unit in Livingston, Texas. ––– Disclaimer: This video is a dramatization based on real events.
