Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 2:14 a.m. on January 27, 2024, Eatontown Patrolman Matthew Schou went to Avenue of Memories near Route 35 after a report of a woman passed out behind the wheel. He found a white 2019 GMC Acadia with Erin Busby slumped over in the driver's seat. Officers knocked on the window, but she did not wake right away. They used a vehicle lockout kit to open the passenger-side doors, which finally woke her. When Erin opened her eyes, she lifted her foot from the brake. The GMC rolled forward and struck a police vehicle parked ahead of it. Patrolman Schou then spoke with Erin and smelled alcohol coming from her. He also saw other signs that she might be impaired. Officers asked her to leave the vehicle and complete field sobriety tests. Erin first took the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, or HGN, test. She then performed the Walk and Turn test but failed to touch heel-to-toe on every step and made an improper turn. During the One Leg Stand test, she did not raise her foot correctly and put it down before the test ended. Erin had fallen asleep in her vehicle, smelled of alcohol, admitted drinking earlier that night, and could not complete the sobriety tests as instructed. Patrolman Schou arrested her for DWI. Her vehicle was impounded for a 12-hour hold under John's Law, and he drove Erin to the Eatontown Police Department for processing. At the station, officers read Erin the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. She agreed to provide breath samples. The Alcotest showed a 0.15% blood alcohol concentration, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08%. Erin also said she had consumed beer and margaritas at Baseline Social in Oceanport earlier that evening. After processing was complete, Erin was released to her husband while awaiting court. He signed the Potential Liability Warning on her behalf.
