On March 19, 2025, the 911 call center (CARE) received a report about a suicidal individual. The caller stated that she had received a message from the man indicating he was suicidal and that he had abandoned his vehicle at the Home Depot in West Seattle. The individual then climbed a fence separating the Home Depot parking lot from the Southwest Precinct parking lot, gaining access to a secured Seattle Police facility. Officers escorted him toward the exit, but he suddenly turned around and brandished a knife. In response, officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, including the use of a less-lethal 40mm sponge round. However, these efforts were unsuccessful. Ultimately, an SPD officer discharged his department-issued handgun, striking the man. Officers immediately provided medical aid. The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived on the scene and continued life-saving efforts, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. 0:00 - Intro 0:15 - Surveillance Camera Footage 0:47 - Officer 1 bodycam 1:31 - Surveillance Camera 2 footage 1:37 - Officer 2 bodycam 1:47 - Officer 1 bodycam 2:40 - Shooting 2:54 - Officer 3 bodycam Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
