COWETA COUNTY, GA (Newnan) — On July 15, 2020 around 4:43 AM, deputies responded to a 911 call about a reckless driver on I-85 S who’d already struck a concrete barrier. When a deputy tried to stop the car, the driver first yielded to the shoulder, then fled. The chase exited at Poplar Rd, where the suspect failed to yield, jumped the median, and drove wrong-way in the oncoming lane for ~600 feet before crossing back. After clipping a curb near Oak Ln, the car stopped. The driver bolted through the passenger door, but a quick foot chase and tackle ended it. The suspect — Jordan Trevaughn Johnson — showed signs of impairment. He refused a blood draw at the hospital and was diagnosed with a fractured pelvis and dislocated hip.
