At approximately 8:45 in the morning, law enforcement officers were dispatched to a pharmacy on Washington Street after a man left the store without paying for multiple items totaling $11.67. An on-scene investigation was conducted, and a suspect description was immediately broadcasted to patrolling units. Shortly after, officers spotted a man matching the exact description walking along the 300 block of Bloomfield Street. When police attempted to approach the individual, he actively tried to evade them by walking away on two separate occasions. The officers successfully intercepted the man, confirmed he was the individual responsible for the shoplifting, and safely placed him under arrest. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
