On February 28, 2025, officers with the Key West Police Department responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked near a local business in an area known for high drug activity. According to witnesses, the truck had been sitting for hours as multiple individuals approached and quickly left — prompting a call to police. When officers made contact, both the driver and passenger were immediately uncooperative. The passenger began recording officers with his phone while refusing to comply with commands. The driver ignored multiple lawful orders to provide identification and was removed from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 17.4 grams of marijuana accessible to both occupants. Both the driver and passenger were arrested at the scene — each charged with possession of marijuana under 20 grams and resisting arrest. The situation didn’t end there. Several days later, the passenger was served a warrant for failing to comply with pretrial release conditions related to the original arrest. That warrant carried an additional $75,000 bond. While still in custody, he was also charged in a separate felony case involving trafficking drugs and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Bond on those new charges was set at $300,000. This body cam footage shows how quickly a seemingly routine stop can escalate — and how an initial encounter can unravel into much more serious charges. ⚠️ All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 💬 Support the Channel: Give Thanks Creating content like this takes time, equipment, and resources.
