Former Las Vegas defense attorney Alexis Plunkett became the center of a shocking criminal investigation after prosecutors alleged she became romantically involved with incarcerated client Andrew Arevalo during a Nevada prison gang-related case connected to the death of another inmate. According to court records, prosecutors alleged Plunkett allowed Arevalo to use her cellphone during jail visits, conduct investigators said violated inmate communication rules and ultimately resulted in a felony charge. Prosecutors also presented disturbing messages allegedly sent by Plunkett to other attorneys, including a federal prosecutor, after the relationship deteriorated. Plunkett ultimately pleaded guilty to a felony charge, received probation, and was permanently disbarred from practicing law in Nevada. This video examines the courtroom proceedings, legal issues, attorney ethics concerns, and the professional consequences surrounding one of the more unusual attorney misconduct cases in recent years.
