FHP Pursuit Ends in Arrest After Driver Reaches Speeds Over 150 MPH VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — On November 22, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a Florida Highway Patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 4 westbound near Mile Marker 116 after observing a black Ford Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver failed to stop and accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 mph, initiating a pursuit. The driver continued westbound before reversing direction and traveling eastbound on Interstate 4, reaching speeds between 115 and 140 mph and driving on the shoulders while weaving through traffic. The pursuit continued onto State Road 44, where the Mustang reached speeds over 150 mph in a 65 mph zone. A Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputy successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating two of the vehicle's tires. The driver continued southbound onto State Road 415, where a trooper made intentional contact with the vehicle. The Mustang left the roadway and entered a ditch, allowing troopers to pin the vehicle and bring the pursuit to an end. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Brandon Romel Dupree, was taken into custody at approximately 5:15 p.m. and transported to the Volusia County Jail. During an inventory of the vehicle, troopers reported recovering cash, suspected marijuana, an electronic scale containing suspected cocaine, vacuum-sealed bags, and other items. The report states that the suspected cocaine tested positive. The report does not provide a final weight for the suspected marijuana or cocaine. Dupree was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer with disregard for the safety of persons or property, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and reckless driving. All charges are allegations, and Dupree is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
