On November 20, 2025, California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a white Dodge Ram pickup traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 101 while swerving across lanes and nearly colliding with other vehicles. According to arrest records, the driver was later located parked in a commercial parking lot in front of Subway in Crescent City. Officers made contact with the driver, who exhibited signs consistent with alcohol and drug impairment, including watery eyes, evasive behavior, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver refused to perform field sobriety tests and declined a preliminary breath test at the scene. During the encounter, the driver became agitated and resisted officers’ attempts to conduct the investigation. The driver was taken into custody without further incident. A chemical blood sample was collected at a local hospital for toxicology testing. Following the arrest, a K-9 unit conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the truck located firearms inside the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Del Norte County Jail for booking.
