Video is for documentation purposes only and everyone is innocent until proven guilty. AK State Troopers found a vehicle/the driver that had just fled from airport police at 100+ MPH and was driving recklessly. Official report summary below: On 1.17.24 at approximately 0222 hours, AST in Fairbanks was notified by Fairbanks Airport Police that they had a red Ram truck eluding them at Peger and Mitchell, westbound. I was on Airport Way, and I watched them drive by on the overpass at a high rate of speed. As I crested the Chena Pump overpass, I saw another quick glimpse of Airport’s emergency lights. I was notified they turned on Sheep Creek Road and that speeds had reached over 100MPH. As I passed Miller Hill Extension on Sheep Creek, I located the Airport Officer who advised the pursuit was discontinued. The Officer stated it was a red pickup truck most likely a Ram. I drove outbound on Sheep Creek where at every turn I observed fresh tire tracks in the fresh snow piled along the edges and center of the road. The tracks appeared as they were from a vehicle taking the corners at high rates of speed as they took up both lanes of travel. Once I drove past (redacted), I noticed tracks that appeared to brake hard (obvious skid marks with fresh snow patterns matching) and turn left into a driveway. I drove about 100 yards past, and I no longer observed any tire tracks in the piled snow anywhere on the roadway. I went back to the driveway and from Sheep Creek I could see a red truck tucked off to the left side of the driveway. The truck appeared to have hit another truck in the driveway on the driver’s side. The driveway had no markings but using the map feature on my phone the address showed (redacted). I pulled into the driveway and confirmed no one was inside the truck. While I was at the truck, I observed the truck smelt hot. There were no prints around the passenger door, but I did see one set of tracks that came around the front of the truck. By the driver’s door I observed one set of tracks leaving toward (redacted), which was about 100 feet away. I noticed the shoe impressions had a very distinct heel almost like a horseshoe. The truck was on the far side of the driveway, and I did not observe any other footprints in area. Once Airport Pd arrived and confirmed the truck (redacted) I went up to the door and as soon as I touched the door it opened and slowly swung open. I observed an older male sitting inside and he identified himself as Ricky. Ricky advised (redacted). Airport PD conducted the initial interview with Jerome. During the interview Jerome denied driving the truck. I asked Jerome to see the bottom of his shoes and the heel of his shoes matched what I observed by the driver’s door. When I told Jerome they matched he stated lots of people have Nike. Jerome was arrested by Airport PD. Later while Jerome was in my patrol vehicle, I could hear him saying something to me. When I opened the door, he stated we were doing illegal things to the truck. I advised him I can seize the phone in plain view, and he stated it was his phone that he was the passenger. Jerome did not waive his Miranda Rights prior, so I did not ask him any questions. My bodycam was added to evidence, and I have no notes.
