Serial police impersonator Jeremy Dewitte is arrested during a funeral escort, and he wants to know why he's the only one in handcuffs. In this bodycam breakdown, officers arrest Dewitte after accusing him of impersonating a police officer. He points out that four other members of his funeral escort team were dressed the same way, yet he's the only one being taken in. As officers discuss his bulletproof vest and duty belt, he repeatedly demands to speak with a lieutenant or captain, saying he isn't asking to be released, only for a supervisor to review the decision. Dewitte argues that a uniform and colored lights don't prove impersonation. He asks officers who he supposedly pulled over and when he ever claimed to be police. He says his company has done funeral escorts for ten years, disputes crossing a double yellow line, and notes that his motorcycle turned out not to be stolen. He also suggests the sergeant's past history with him played a role, which remains his allegation. At the station, officers photograph his uniform, vest and duty belt as evidence, while Dewitte asks them to preserve their bodycam footage and keeps asking why the other four weren't arrested. Did officers have enough to support the impersonation allegation, or should a supervisor have reviewed it first? Let us know in the comments.
