The incident began when an automated camera flagged a black Hyundai Palisade that had previously fled from a neighboring police department. Local patrol units intercepted the vehicle, sparking a massive pursuit down suburban streets. The driver pushed the vehicle to extreme speeds of up to 110 mph in a posted 30 mph zone to escape the pursuing squads. An officer successfully deployed a tire deflation device, which shredded the front passenger tire and forced the fleeing vehicle to crash into a guard rail and a street sign before breaking down entirely. Once the vehicle was disabled, three occupants abandoned the car and fled on foot. An officer chased the driver through several residential backyards. When the officer caught up to the suspect, a physical struggle ensued, and the suspect punched the officer in the face twice, causing facial lacerations. A backup deputy arrived moments later and successfully deployed a taser to bring the violent suspect under control. Assisting units flooded the perimeter to locate the two passengers who had vanished into the neighborhood. Officers tracked them to a nearby house where they were found hiding and were taken into custody without further incident. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty
