On Monday, 08/12/2024, at approximately 03:56 hrs, an officer responded to a physical disturbance at a resort. Accompanied by another officer in a training capacity, they arrived at the location of the alleged disturbance. The room appeared dark behind closed blinds, and after knocking and announcing themselves as law enforcement, the man inside refused to open the door but agreed to communicate through an open window. The officers explained their presence due to concerns for the safety of a female in the man's company. Despite initial resistance, the man was eventually detained. Statements from witnesses provided details of a physical altercation, leading to further investigation and interviews to gather accounts of the incident. The female witness described hearing arguing and witnessing a physical altercation between the man and a woman outside the room. The woman involved in the altercation explained that an argument had ensued earlier due to her not wanting to return to Miami with the man. The situation escalated when the man grabbed her fanny pack as she tried to leave the room, causing her to fall forward. The woman then walked away towards the beach area. The man was questioned about the events and expressed concerns about the officers' actions. The officers explained their intervention was to ensure the safety of the woman involved. The investigation continued with interviews to gather multiple perspectives on the incident.
