It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: Early on June 26, 2025, at 12:54 AM, police in Lake Forest got a report. A car was driving oddly in Highland Park. Officer Czarnecki spotted a black Chevrolet matching the description. It was near Western Avenue and Illinois Road. He turned on his lights to stop it. The driver pulled over. Officer Czarnecki spoke with the driver. She was Maribel Zagal. Her daughter sat in the front seat. Maribel said she was going home. She had just celebrated her birthday. Maribel then admitted her license was gone. Two past DUIs caused the revocation. While talking, he smelled alcohol. He also saw signs of impairment. Maribel admitted she drank alcohol earlier. He asked her to get out and do tests. Maribel refused to do the tests. Because of the early report, the alcohol smell, her own admission, and her refusal to test, Maribel was arrested. She was charged with driving under the influence. A relative came to take her daughter. Ernie’s Towing took Maribel’s car. Maribel went to the Lake Forest Police Station. They read her a warning, but she would not give breath samples. After processing, she was let go. She must appear in Lake County Courthouse. Maribel faces several charges. These include DUI with alcohol. She also faces aggravated DUI, her third offense. A third offense with a child passenger is also charged. Driving with a suspended license adds another charge. Operating an uninsured vehicle is listed. Driving with a suspended registration is also charged. Records show Maribel had prior DUI arrests. These were in Lake County, Illinois.
