Law enforcement officers were flagged down by a concerned citizen who reported two individuals fighting near a busy intersection. Upon arrival, a team of officers separated the men to investigate the cause of the disturbance. It was determined that the altercation began when an older pedestrian accused an e-bike rider of nearly striking him. The verbal dispute quickly escalated when the pedestrian brandished a knife at the rider. Following the arrest, a further search of the suspect's belongings revealed a small silver handgun and ammunition concealed in his bag. The suspect was processed at headquarters and charged with multiple counts related to the possession of the knife and firearm, as well as making terroristic threats, before being transferred to a correctional facility. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
