The Oklahoma City Police Department has released video from an officer shooting that happened on November 9 at McGuire Plaza on NE 12th Street in Oklahoma City. When officers showed up, the man was in the parking lot with the gun but refused to put it down when being commanded to do so by officers. He pointed the gun at them and went back inside the building. Officers then followed the man inside. The man continued to point his gun at officers before one of them fired shots at the suspect, but the bullets did not hit the suspect and hit a wall instead. The suspect then fired a shot at one of the officers then hid behind a vending machine. He then tossed his gun on the ground and was told to leave it there, but he went to pick it up. As a result, one of the officers shot him multiple times, leading to his death. The man was identified as 31-year-old Azjaynee Owens-Bey. Officials said the officer involved is MSgt. Daniel Higginbottom. According to OKCPD, MSgt. Higginbottom was placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
