Reports said a drunk person was trying to drive off. He arrived by 11:10 PM. A woman sat behind the wheel of a gray 2015 Nissan Rogue. Officers later ID'd her as 22-year-old Emily Maynard. Bartolone approached Emily to talk. Alcohol stench hit him right away. He spotted clear signs of impairment too. She confessed to a few gulps of margarita before starting the car. Suspicious, he told her to step out. Time for field sobriety tests. She started with Walk and Turn. No heel-to-toe touches. Her turn went wrong. Next came One Leg Stand. She failed to lift her foot right. It dropped before time was up. The smell, her words, those botched tests – Bartolone cuffed her for DUI. He impounded her car under John's Law for 12 hours. Then he drove her to the station. Officer Foy read the standard motor vehicle statement. Emily agreed to blow into the breathalyzer. Results hit 0.121% BAC. Way past the 0.08% limit. They wrapped up processing. A sober adult took her home. He signed her Potential Liability Warning. Court waits ahead. Bartolone handed her these tickets: Operating under influence (39:4-50).
