On October 19, 2024, at approximately 5:38 PM, Officer Brian Mason of the Colts Neck Police Department was on patrol near the Cedar Drive Park on Veterans Way when he was flagged down by a concerned motorist. The complainant reported that a female driver had struck a concrete trash can and was seen drinking a beer. As Officer Mason spoke with the witness, the suspect—later identified as 67-year-old Victa—was seen exiting her vehicle, nearly falling over, and discarding a brown paper bag into the trash can she had just hit. Upon approaching her, Officer Mason determined she was visibly intoxicated. Following an on-scene investigation, the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and transported for processing. At the station, Victa refused to provide a valid breath sample and was released on summonses for reckless driving, DUI, refusal to submit to breath testing, driving an unregistered vehicle, and possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle.
