On January 22, 2025, Hoboken Police Officer Archilla was flagged down by an employee of CVS who advised him that a 37-year-old woman had just shoplifted and left the store. Officer Archilla located the woman and while attempting to question her, she allegedly pushed him. He then attempted to detain her in handcuffs and she resisted. With the assistance of other responding officers, they were able to gain control of the woman, who then claimed she was assaulted. Several minutes later, she spat towards the direction of two officers but missed. She was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, where she was charged with shoplifting, resisting arrest, the throwing bodily fluids at an officer. Her case remains open. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
