It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On January 19, 2025, near 12:20 AM, Officers Forcenito and Desiato were on duty. They were near West North Avenue and Clark Street. They saw a Jeep driving on the shoulder. This was during another traffic stop. Officer Desiato then used his lights. He pulled the Jeep over on Parks Road. He told the driver to stop. The driver stopped after hitting her car's hood. Sergeant Desiato smelled alcohol. The driver, Dawn, said she was at the Riverside Inn. She admitted to drinking. He suspected she was drunk. Officers Swiderski and Sharfetz arrived to help. Dawn was asked to get out. She then did field sobriety tests. First, she had to say the alphabet. She started at "B" and went to "Y." Dawn was a teacher. She couldn't do this right. Next was the Walk and Turn test. She did not step heel-to-toe. Her arms were not at her sides. Then came the One Leg Stand test. Dawn couldn't lift her foot correctly. She put it down too soon. The last test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. Officer Swiderski saw her eyes jerk. They did not move smoothly. They jerked at the farthest point. Her eyes started jerking before 45 degrees. Dawn's driving was bad. She smelled of alcohol. She failed the tests. Officer Swiderski arrested her. She was charged with drunk driving. Her Jeep was impounded for 12 hours. Officers Swiderski and Sharfetz took Dawn to the station. At the station, Dawn was read a statement. She refused breath samples. After processing, a sober adult took her. He signed papers for her. She would appear in court later. Officer Swiderski gave Dawn tickets.
