On March 4, 2026, in Ventura County, California Highway Patrol officers responded to multiple reports of a reckless driver allegedly speeding and swerving through traffic on southbound US-101 near Rancho Road. According to the arrest report, CHP officers later located a black BMW convertible and observed the vehicle crossing lane lines before initiating a traffic stop on Westlake Boulevard. Police dashcam footage captured the DUI investigation involving Britney Spears as officers reportedly observed objective signs of impairment including red and watery eyes, slurred speech, rapid mood swings, unsteady movements, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Officers also documented erratic behavior and unusual speech patterns during the roadside investigation. Britney Spears admitted to consuming a champagne mimosa earlier in the day and stated she had also taken prescription medications, including Lamictal and Prozac, prior to driving. Officers later located a bottle of Adderall inside the vehicle. CHP officers conducted field sobriety tests before requesting a certified Drug Recognition Expert evaluation. The report states the DRE concluded Spears was allegedly driving under the combined influence of alcohol and a CNS stimulant. Preliminary alcohol screening results reportedly showed breath samples of 0.05% and 0.06% BAC. Spears was later transported to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for a chemical blood draw before being booked into Ventura County Jail on the following charge: VC 23152(g) — Driving Under the Combined Influence of Alcohol and Drugs All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
