The British coastline and mountain ranges are some of the most beautiful places on Earth but they hide a lethal reality for those who are unprepared. This story follows the elite men and women of the HM Coastguard and Mountain Rescue who stand between life and death when the worst happens. From a secluded bay in Yorkshire where a grandfather faces a life-threatening brain injury to the dark and freezing Cairngorms where a lost cyclist is minutes away from total collapse these are the real-time accounts of heroes in action. You will see the technical precision required to winch a casualty into a helicopter during a gale and feel the frustration when a rescue mission is suddenly diverted to an even more dire emergency.
