Akron Police were dispatched to an address for two black males with a rifle threatening to kill people. As officers pulled on the scene, the officer stopped at Delos St and S Arlington St when he saw a male matching the description of one of the suspects on the sidewalk in front of the address. The officer gave the suspect commands to put his hands up and walk towards the police car. The suspect then went behind a building where the officer lost sight. As the officer approached the business, employees told him the suspect fled eastbound. Witnesses on the scene then pointed at Jefferson and stated he was also pointing the gun around and threatening people. Jefferson was detained, read Miranda rights, and placed in the back of the officer's patrol vehicle. The officer located the rifle next to Jefferson's property and discovered it was an airsoft gun. The officer spoke with the owners of the drive-through, who stated Jefferson and the unknown suspect were standing outside the store together, passed the gun back and forth, and both made threats and waved the gun around. Both witnesses stated they thought the gun was real. The witness is the owner of the store and stated there is no camera footage of the incident as it all occurred in front of the store where the cameras do not work. Jefferson stated he did not know the other male's name. Jefferson stated they were going to an Al Capone theme party and that is why they had the fake gun. Jefferson stated he made no threats toward anyone and never pointed the gun at anyone. Jefferson stated he did not know why the unknown male fled.
