Dog Ate My License” — Drunk Driver Arrested After Failing Sobriety Tests in Highlands, New Jersey On the night of July 10, 2025, Sergeant Clark of the Highlands Police Department noticed a black Acura MDX speeding and revving loudly near Shore Drive & Waterwitch Avenue. When he stopped the vehicle, the driver — Kaitlyn A. Denblecker — showed all the classic signs of intoxication: red watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car. When asked for her license, she told the officer, “My dog ate it.” Soon, other officers arrived to assist, including Sergeant O’Donnell and Officers Hartsgrove and Pilkington. During the field sobriety tests, things quickly went downhill: In the HGN (eye) test, she showed clear signs of impairment. In the Walk-and-Turn test, she struggled to maintain balance and couldn’t walk heel-to-toe in a straight line. When asked to perform the alphabet test, she started singing the French alphabet song, then restarted in English but stopped midway at the letter V. Finally, she refused to do the One-Leg-Stand test altogether. After several failed attempts, police placed her under arrest for DWI.
