On July 20, 2023, officers responded to an Amscot after management reported a woman who had been formally trespassed from the property a week earlier had returned and refused to leave. According to the report, the manager told officers that the woman had been trespassed on July 8th and was not allowed on the property until 2024, but “she refused and remained on the property” when asked to leave. When officers approached her inside the lobby, she immediately became upset and insisted she wasn’t trespassing because she had “several accounts with Amscot.” The officer attempted to arrest her, but she tensed up, pulled away, resisted, and during the struggle, began kicking the officer several times, saying she would not be arrested. Despite the resistance, officers were able to secure her in handcuffs without using force tools or less-lethal options. She was taken into custody and charged with Trespassing After Warning, Resisting an Officer With Violence, and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
