On October 7, 2024. Walmart Loss Prevention contacted the Rhinelander Police Department after they stopped two individuals, Michael and Diana who were caught shoplifting. The pair handed over the stolen goods before fleeing the store on a motorcycle. An undercover officer saw them in the parking lot and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The motorcycle fled and the suspects attempted to hide behind a dumpster a few stores down from Walmart. The undercover officer saw where they went and requested uniformed officers to the scene. Michael, the motorcycle operator, was searched and placed into a squad car. He was eventually transported to the county jail to get booked. Diana was laying down next to the dumpster and said she was in pain. She denied EMS services and agreed to go back to Walmart to speak with their loss prevention team. It was determined that Diana would be banned from all Walmart's and would be receiving a citation for theft. Diana explained that she did not have a home and had nowhere to sleep around the area. An officer allowed Diana to use her phone to search for a hotel. After finding a location, the officer provided Diana a ride to the hotel and gave her a McDonalds gift card so she would be able to eat. Michael was found guilty for Reckless Driving-Endanger Safety and Felony bail jumping. He was sentenced to 3 years of probation and ordered to pay a $419 fine. Diana was found guilty for theft and ordered to pay a $246 fine. This video is for educational purposes only.
