A routine traffic stop for no headlights quickly uncovers a driver's severe impairment, leading to a series of failed sobriety tests. Around 3:08 AM, a sergeant initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driving erratically without headlights. Upon contact, the 25-year-old driver exhibited incoherence and an odor of alcohol, leading to suspicion of impairment. The officer conducted multiple field sobriety exercises, including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, One Leg Stand, Walk and Turn, and alphabet recitation. The driver failed all tests, notably singing the alphabet and struggling significantly with balance and coordination, prompting an arrest for driving under the influence.
