On March 31, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Bridgeport Police officers—including Officer Yoon Heo and Officer Erin Perrotta—responded to a report of a large altercation on East Main Street. Additional information indicated that a black Chevrolet Tahoe was in the area, and that an occupant of the vehicle was possibly armed. Officers located the black Tahoe parked in a store lot on East Main Street. The vehicle contained two occupants. Officer Perrotta opened the passenger-side door and informed the passenger—later identified as Dyshan Best—that he would be subject to a pat-down. Upon hearing this, Best exited the vehicle and fled on foot, holding a Rémy Martin liquor bottle in one hand. Officers Perrotta and Heo initiated a foot pursuit. At a gas station near the intersection of Beecher Street and Kossuth Street, Officer Heo deployed his Taser. Best continued running, losing his shoes as he passed through the station. The chase continued along Kossuth Street and into a driveway near 1420 Kossuth Street. By this time, Best had discarded the liquor bottle. As he ran up the driveway, Best displayed an object in his right hand that appeared to be a firearm. In response, Officer Heo discharged his weapon twice, striking Best. Officers recovered a Highpoint Compact 9mm handgun next to where Best collapsed. Police immediately administered medical aid and continued lifesaving efforts until the Bridgeport Fire Department arrived. Best was transported by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 7:41 p.m. 0:00 - Intro 0:15 - Officer Perrotta Bodycam 0:45 - Pursuit 1:46 - Officer Heo Bodycam 2:19 - Shooting #Bridgeport #BridgeportPolice #PoliceChase #OfficerInvolvedShooting #FootPursuit #PoliceIncident #ConnecticutNews #LawEnforcement #PoliceResponse #BreakingNews #PoliceActivity #PublicSafety #GunRecovery #PoliceUseOfForce #CrimeReport #DyshanBest Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
