#CrimeCamNow On June 22, 2023, a Forsyth County sheriff’s deputy responded to a call about a woman sleeping in her car with the engine still running. Upon arrival, the deputy found a woman slumped over in a blue Honda CR-V parked nearly in the middle of the road. As the officer approached the driver’s side she abruptly woke up and began to panic. He instructed her to turn off the engine, but she appeared confused. With her car blocking traffic, he repeatedly urged her to back up—and she eventually complied. The deputy then asked her to step out of the vehicle. However, when she noticed a fire truck nearby, she hesitated. After the officer explained that the fire truck was there for her, she drove off, circled around the fire truck, and struck a mailbox before disappearing from view. The deputy tried to pursue, but by the time he navigated around the fire truck, she was gone. Returning to the scene, the officer noted that aside from the damaged mailbox, no one appeared injured. Shortly afterward, a local resident reported that a vehicle matching the description was parked in her driveway. She said that a woman had exited the car and asked if she could hide her, but when the resident refused, the suspect fled into the backyard woods. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed an empty can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade, a half-empty green apple liquor bottle, and several used syringes. Deputies were not able to locate the suspect later that day, she evaded capture. Two days later, a homeowner called the sheriff’s office to report a red-haired female lying on the side of her house, saying that police were looking for her. When questioned, the suspect admitted that she had been hiding in the woods all along. She was charged with obstruction, failure to report striking a fixed object, possession of marijuana under one ounce, and possession of an open container. After receiving treatment at a local hospital, she was transported to Forsyth County Jail.
