A traffic stop in Galveston, Texas, ended in the fatal shooting of 47-year-old Randy Martin, and newly released dash-camera video now shows the encounter. The incident happened on May 18, 2026, near the intersection of Avenue O and 55th Street. Galveston police said Officer Joshua Nino de Guzman stopped the vehicle and later became involved in a physical struggle with Martin. The officer fired his weapon, striking Martin multiple times. Officers immediately provided first aid before Martin was transported to UTMB, where he was pronounced dead. The Texas Rangers and Galveston County District Attorney’s Office investigated the shooting. In September, a Galveston County grand jury declined to indict the officer.
