*HAPPY TACO TUESDAY!! We pray that the echo from Trooper Killian's MIC, doesn't offend you. It's an awesome arrest and he deserves to be thanked for his Service!* On 2/6/2026 at approximately 7:40 Am, I, Trooper Killian was sitting stationary on Interstate 30 East at the 86 Mile marker turnaround. I observed a blue Nissan Rogue bearing a Texas LPN VYB3432 traveling in the right lane. As the vehicle passed me, I observed the driver leaning forward in his seat. I decided to pull out of the median to observe the vehicle further. As I pulled out of the median the vehicle began to follow a semi too closely then transition to the left lane then quickly back to the right lane asI got closer. I then ran the license plate through ACIC which showed it to be registered out of Dallas Texas to a Nayeli Sanchez. ACIC also showed the vehicle had expired registration on 1/31/2026. I then initiated my emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. Once stopped I made my initial approach on the vehicle and began talking to the driver later identified as Pedro Valdez (H/M).  While talking to Valdez I informed him of who I was, what department I worked for, and the reason for the stop. After informing him of this I observed Valdez to show signs of nervousness due to his deep shallow breathing, visibly shaking and his body positioned with his back against the driver’s side door. I began asking the driver where he was going and he stated that he was going to work, and that he was a framer. I then asked where he was framing at and at first, he didn’t say anything and looked like he didn’t know. He then stated Little rock and he was going to be there for “maybe 5 days.” I then ordered him out of the vehicle while I checked out of his information he provided. While walking to my patrol vehicle I asked Valdez what was in the back of his car because I observed two large cardboard boxes.  Valdez looked shocked that I asked that and looked back at the car, looked back at me, and then stated nothing. I then informed him that he could sit in my patrol vehicle. While in my patrol vehicle I began asking him where he was coming from and he stated that he was coming from Dallas Texas. I then ran the LPN through our License plate reader, and it showed the vehicle coming from Houston Texas which is a known source city for drug trafficking organizations. I then asked Valdez how long he was going to be in Little Rock and he was very hesitant on an answer. I questioned him and asked “one day?” He then stated no for 15 days. I asked if he has ever been in trouble and he stated yes originally, but when I started asking him what for he then changed his answer to no. I then asked if there was anything illegal in his vehicle and started listing off illegal narcotics. When I asked about Marijuana he stated “hell no,” I then asked any cocaine he stated “no,” when I asked about methamphetamine he didn’t say anything but shook his head no.  I asked if I could check his vehicle to make sure there wasn’t anything illegal and he stated no. I originally asked for a canine but shortly canceled after I began looking at the ID he provided along with the insurance he provided and came to the realization Valdez didn’t have a valid driver’s license. I came to this realization due to him being on the insurance card and insuring it on 8/29/2025. With a Mexico license you are only permitted to drive in the United States for 6 months along with having a current stamped passport in which he didn't provide. Also Arkansas statute 27-16-603 (5) states "Any nonresident who is at least eighteen (18) years of age whose home state or country does not require the licensing of noncommercial drivers may operate a motor vehicle as a noncommercial driver only, for a period of not more than ninety (90) days in any calendar year, if the motor vehicle so operated is duly registered in the home state or country of the nonresident." I then informed Troop K Communications to call me a wrecker. Once I called for the wrecker, I began to inventory the vehicle. While inventorying the vehicle I located two large cardboard boxes. Inside the two cardboard boxes were multiple baggies containing a white Crystal substance. I then placed Valdez into hand restraints and in the back of my patrol vehicle. I then read him his Miranda warning, and he stated he didn’t understand his rights. Red River wrecker service towed the vehicle to Malvern Police Department while I transported Valdez. While at Malvern Police Department DEA Matt Kuntz took over the case. A final weight on the illegal narcotics was approximately 115 lbs. It is to be noted that Ice later stated he was an illegal alien.
