On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, an officer with the North Port Police Department responded to a citizen complaint regarding vehicles blocking the roadway. Upon arrival, the officer observed an unregistered BMW and a Toyota blocking a travel lane and arranged for them to be towed as a hazard. During the removal process, a female suspect emerged from a nearby residence, stating the vehicles belonged to her boyfriend and a friend. When the officer explained the tow would proceed, the suspect physically positioned herself between the vehicle and the tow truck to prevent its removal. Despite receiving multiple commands to move and warnings that she would be arrested, she continued to interfere. The suspect was taken into custody for Obstruction Without Violence. It was later discovered that one of the vehicle owners was on the phone with the suspect during the incident, explicitly instructing her to impede the towing process.
