Witnesses, including the victim's family, provided consistent accounts of the incident, detailing how the driver sped away without checking on the child. The suspect, when located, claimed she fled to find the child's mother but offered inconsistent explanations and denied any wrongdoing. Despite her pleas for leniency, the officers arrested her, discovering that her license was expired and suspended. She was later charged with hit-and-run, driving with an expired license, and traffic violations.
