On May 6, 2026, at approximately 6:46 p.m., I observed a gray Honda Civic traveling southbound on I-540 near the 13-mile marker. After noticing the vehicle make an abrupt jerking movement, I conducted a registration check and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as Jonathan Spiotto, continued onto the Highway 271 exit ramp before finally stopping after multiple PA commands. During contact, Spiotto appeared confused, avoided eye contact, and the odor of intoxicants was coming from the vehicle. An alcoholic beverage was also observed inside the car. After refusing multiple commands to exit the vehicle, Spiotto suddenly fled the traffic stop, driving along the shoulder of Highway 271 before entering the Harp’s Grocery Store parking lot. Once stopped, Spiotto continued refusing commands while holding onto his dog and attempting to make a phone call. Due to continued noncompliance, officers went hands-on and safely placed Spiotto into custody. A search revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and an open bottle of “99 Bananas” alcohol inside the vehicle. Spiotto was also driving on a DWI-suspended license. Spiotto later consented to a breath test and provided a result of 0.20 BAC — over twice the legal limit. He was transported to Mercy Hospital for a second test before being booked into the Sebastian County Detention Center. Charges included: • Felony Fleeing • DWI 1st Offense • Driving on Suspended License • Open Container • Possession of Marijuana • Drug Paraphernalia • Refusal to Submit to Arrest • No Liability Insurance #DWI #PoliceBodyCam #ArkansasStatePolice
