Welcome to LEA Bodycam. In this episode, we break down intense Arkansas State Police dashcam and bodycam footage from September 7, 2022. A trooper pulled over a red Pontiac Grand Prix on Interstate 55 for driving 50 MPH on the shoulder during heavy traffic. The driver, Erik Winfert, lacked a driver's license and claimed he was taking his ill passenger to the hospital. Upon smelling marijuana, the trooper conducted a search while a backup officer performed field sobriety tests on Winfert. Mid-search, the female passenger—later identified as wanted fugitive Brittany Johns—climbed into the driver's seat and fled the scene at speeds over 100 MPH. Seconds later, she violently collided with a box truck, splitting the vehicle completely in half.
