At approximately 10:58 AM, Flock alerted officers to the presence of a blue Hyundai Tucson (bearing MI registration ECA4999) near the intersection of Kenmore Blvd. and 18th St. The vehicle and its occupant were suspected in connection with a potential homicide in Wyandotte, Michigan. Officers located the vehicle near Copley Rd. and Seward Ave, noting its failure to signal a turn 100 ft. prior to entering the parking lot on Copley Rd. Given the potential involvement of the driver in a homicide case, officers conducted a felony stop on the vehicle. Despite repeated loud verbal commands, the driver, later identified as Jin Sung-Ho, refused to exit the vehicle with his hands raised. Instead, Jin brandished a long butcher knife out of the window, making threatening gestures. After returning the knife to the car, Jin made suspicious movements towards the rear and front passenger's seats, disregarding commands from officers. Subsequently, officers witnessed Jin setting his vehicle on fire before exiting through the front passenger door. Jin was apprehended by officers without further incident as he lay on the ground in front of 1371 Copley Rd. He was placed in handcuffs and taken to the hospital by EMS for evaluation. Jin was charged with Obstructing Official Business and Aggravated charges.
