On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, deputies with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a grocery store parking lot in Port Charlotte, Florida, regarding reports of an intoxicated woman attempting to operate a silver Nissan SUV. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 66-year-old Barbara Ann Blair, who exhibited slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol; she immediately became combative, shouting profanities and ignoring multiple commands to remain in her vehicle. When deputies attempted to Walk Blair to a patrol car to Pec arrest her for obstruction, she began physically resisting by tensing her body and gripping her vehicle's door handle to prevent being moved. The encounter escalated further when Blair intentionally kicked a deputy in the legs and attempted to strike another officer, necessitating the use of leg restraints to safely secure her for transport.
