On August 31st, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officers were dispatched to perform a welfare check. The calling party stated that a female, who appeared to be under the influence, was screaming in the area. When Officers arrived, they observed a female who was lying on the grass and another female sitting on the curb. Both women had apparently been drinking at a bar. Police focused their attention on the driver of the vehicle and a Driving While Under the Influence (DWI) investigation was initiated. After refusing to perform sobriety tests in dramatic fashion, the 37-year-old woman was arrested. She was transported to the Rio Rancho Police Station, where she was finally able to provide two breath samples after numerous attempts. She was charged with DWI and careless driving. On February 11, 2026, she pleaded guilty to the DWI charge and the careless driving charge was dismissed. She was ordered to complete DWI school, perform Community Service, and install an Ignition Interlock Device on her vehicle.
